Local charities and voluntary groups supporting people who are homeless need your support to end street homelessness.

The best way to help is to donate money that is currently needed across the city.  We will also post on this page a call out for any items we require or volunteer opportunities that you can apply for.

Donate money

Donating to support local projects, including the homelessness day centre and night shelter, is a quick and effective way for you to help people who are homeless in your community.

All money donated goes directly into a Safer off the Streets bank accessed by all local agencies tackling street homelessness. Giving in this way you can be sure your money is used where it is most needed, to help people make positive changes.

Online donations now active.

Register as a volunteer

From time to time some of the Safer off the Streets agencies and charities need the help of volunteers to assist with a wide variety of tasks and services. This can range from administration tasks, mentoring, transport, DIY, skill share, or just someone to talk to.

All volunteers play a crucial role in preventing and ending street homelessness and helping people rebuild lives. We will advertise below any new volunteering roles across Peterborough when they become available.

Garden House volunteers needed
Could you offer a few hours to support people in getting off the streets?  The Garden House opened last month and is run by the Light Project charity. It is a beautiful building in the heart of Peterborough offering information, advice and support to those who are sleeping on our streets. Set in idyllic grounds, our guests can enjoy a safe and warm welcome whilst receiving housing, health, benefits and job search support. We require volunteers to cover morning shifts 9.30am-1pm and afternoon shifts 1pm-4.30pm every day except Thursday.
